The Minnesota Office of Combative Sports disclosed salary information for the UFC on FX 5: Browne vs Big Foot event which took place October 5th at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The total payroll for the event was $538,000.

We lost 2 fights, but the 10 remaining fights were fantastic! Of those 10 fights, 7 finished with a KO or Submission. Brilliant night of fights!
Jacob Volkmann’s first round submission of Shane Roller was certainly one of the highlights for Volkmann’s home state crowd. Both Mike Pierce and Michael Johnson also made it very interesting by coming back from huge first round deficits to win by KO in the second. Justin Edwards also looked great with a quick sub over a tough Josh Neer.

Weigh-ins for ‘UFC on FX 5: Browne vs Big Foot’ took place Thursday afternoon at Minneapolis’ Pantages Theater. There was quite a bit of drama as not every fighter made weight so one of the fights had to be dropped. Antonio “Big Foot” Silva and Travis Browne also would not break stare until Silva was pulled off stage.
The fighter who didn’t make weight was Dennis Hallman. He came in 7 pounds over at which point Tavares said he would accept 3 pounds over. Hallman was unable to make 3 pounds over so the fight was cancelled.
Matt Mitrione vs Phil De Fries
Matt Mitrione (5-1) was originally scheduled to fight Rob Broughton (15-7-1) at UFC on FX 5 but the UFC announced today that Mitrione will instead be facing fellow heavyweight Phil De Fries (9-1) at ‘UFC 155: dos Santos vs Velasquez II’ happening December 29th in Las Vegas.
Matt Mitrione looks to rebound from his loss to Cheick Kongo his last time out. It was the first loss for the TUF 10 alum. Kongo pretty much had his way with Mitrione and won the decision unanimously, but it was a match that Mitrione can certainly learn from. He was looking to break into the UFC heavyweight elite with a win over Kongo but it turns out he wasn’t quite ready.
Thiago Tavares
With the cancellation of UFC 151, the lightweight bout between Dennis Hallman (51-14-2) and Thiago Tavares (17-4-1) has been moved to the UFC on FX 5 card.
