UFC on FX 7: Belfort vs Bisping Results - Vitor Belfort defeats Michael Bisping

Vitor Belfort defeats Michael Bisping at UFC on FX 7 in Sao Paulo, Brazil

Vitor Belfort reigned supreme tonight in Sao Paulo, Brazil as the 35 year-old defeated Michael Bisping in very impressive fashion. A high leg kick to the temple was the weapon of choice as he used it to hurt Bisping in the first, and then finish him off with one in the second.

“The Phenom” looked great and called out for a rematch with light heavyweight champ Jon Jones after the fight. While doing so, he totally trashed Chael Sonnen calling him a “joke”. Chael responded with “You’ve been telling the world you want to meet Jesus and I am happy to arrange that travel. Jon’s next, but I accept”. Classic Chael. I can see the perfect hype storm coming already.

UFC on FX 7: Belfort vs Bisping Weigh-In

Vitor Belfort and Michael Bisping Face Off

Weigh-ins for ‘UFC on FX 7: Belfort vs Bisping’ took place today at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo. All 22 fighters made weight. Although, C.J. Keith missed weight on his first attempt at 157. He was given an additional hour to make weight and successfully came in at 156.

A charged-up weigh-in as you would expect in Brazil. The Brazilian fighters got huge cheers. The foreigners, not so much. Aside from Vitor of course, Daniel Sarafian got the biggest cheers and the crowd even started chanting something. On the other side of the coin, aside from Michael Bisping, Sarafian’s opponent C.B. Dollaway received the loudest boos.

UFC on FX 7: Belfort vs Bisping - Predictions and DiscussionThis card may not have the more popular names and matchups, but I will never miss watching a UFC card in Brazil. The atmosphere is super-charged and the fighters usually respond and deliver, especially the home-country boys wanting to defend their turf and make a name for themselves.

Aside from a few Brazilian-Brazilian fights on the card, most of the fights are Brazilian-Non-Brazilian which seems to add a bit of spice when watching. There is probably no better high for a Brazilian fighter to be fighting for the UFC in Brazil and finishing off a foreign opponent with a highlight reel submission or knockout. Receiving an “of the Night” bonus would of course top the dream off to perfection.
