Yet another brit has been added to the UFC on FUEL TV 5 in Nottingham card. Lewisham native Jason Young (9-5) will be taking on fellow featherweight Robbie Peralta (15-3). This makes seven fights now for the card with only the main event not having a British fighter fighting.
From Jason Young’s Twitter (@shotgun_young)
“so it’s official now Ill be fighting Robbie peralta in Nottingham on @UFC_UK on fuel tv u can now get your tickets http://www.capitalfmarena.com “
This will be Jason Young’s fourth time fighting for the UFC. It started out rough with two losses to Dustin Poirier and Michihiro Omigawa but then he rebounded his last time out against Eric Wisely with a unanimous decision. Young will have a tough test to keep his win streak going against Peralta who hasn’t lost a fight since July 2009.
Peralta has been injured though since November so may have some ring rust but does have the 8-fight win streak going. The longtime Gladiator Challenge fighter joined the UFC after a split-decision upset of DREAM champion Hiroyuki Takaya last April. In his UFC debut, he scored a decision victory over Mike Lullo. He then took on Mackens Semerzier at UFC on Fox: Velasquez vs Dos Santos and initially won via TKO but it was overturned to a no-contest after the California State Athletic Commission ruled the knockout was the result of an accidental head butt, not a punch.
