Tim Kennedy is back after almost a year off and will take on Luke Rockhold for his Strikeforce Middleweight Title on July 14th in Portland, Oregon. Also added to the card was Robbie Lawler vs Lorenz Larkin and Roger Gracie vs Keith Jardine.
The other fight on the Strikeforce: Rockhold vs Kennedy card is Nate Marquardt vs Tyron Woodley for the Vacant Strikeforce Welterweight Title.
Some very interesting matchups. Rockhold will finally be tested as Kennedy has proved himself as a tough and relentless opponent.
Robbie Lawler fights are always entertaining and given Larkin’s athletic style it should be a banger of a match. Larkin’s last fight was against King Mo Lawal after which King Mo tested positive for Drostanolone. The fight was then ruled a ‘No Contest’.
Tyron Woodley is still undefeated at 10-0 and will also get a good test as he fights UFC veteran Nate Marquardt. Nate The Great hasn’t fought since beating Dan Miller at UFC 128 March, 2011.
Jardine and Gracie, interesting. I’m amazed Jardine is still going but he’s still a draw and always gives it his all. He was even “briefly” competitve against Luke Rockhold his last time out. His matchup with Gracie is a bit more realistic though. Gracie is a Gracie and the submission threat is always there but after getting KO’d by King Mo Lawal in the first round his last time out, he showed that he is vulnerable to the KO. Something I’m sure the Dean of Mean would love to exploit.
