UFC 149 change: Thiago Alves takes on Siyar Bahadurzada instead of Yoshihiro Akiyama

Thiago Alves vs Siyar Bahadurzada at UFC 149Excellent matchup change for UFC 149: Aldo vs Koch as Siyar Bahadurzada will now take on Thiago Alves instead of Yoshihiro Akiyama.

Bahadurzada impressed many during his UFC debut at UFC on FUEL TV 2: Gustafsson vs Silva as he ended Paulo Thiago’s night in just 42 seconds. He was awarded “Knockout of the Night” for his effort and brought much joy to Afghans around the world.

Here’s a YouTube of the fight. It’s not the greatest quality but captures the KO. Plus, if you stay tuned until the end, the person shooting the video (most likely an Afghan) puts an exclamation point on the fight with “Yeah! and that’s how an Afghan wins!

Bahadurzada has now ended his last five fights with a knockout and has won his last seven. It’s a huge jump up in talent though with Thiago Alves. Alves has been in there with the best and even though he’s coming off a loss to Martin Kampmann, he was winning that fight up until his bad decision to shoot Kampmann late, which resulted in him tapping out to a guillotine choke. Surprising matchup but one that will surely test if Siyar is ready for the big leagues.

  1. Paulo Thiago went down like he’d been shot through the back of the head. One of the eeriest knockouts Ive seen in a while.
I think Alves takes this by mixing up his striking
