UFC returns to the Air Canada Centre in Toronto for UFC 165 on Sept. 21

The UFC announced today that it will be returning to the Air Canada Centre in Toronto for it’s upcoming UFC 165 event to be held on Sept. 21. No fights were announced for the card as of yet.
This will be the fourth UFC event to take place in Toronto over the years. The last time was just a year ago for UFC 152: Jones vs Belfort where Jon Jones successfully defended his belt against Vitor Belfort with an Americana submission in the fourth round. That card drew 16,800 fans for a gate of $1.9 million.

Overview
Visa issues forced Reza Madadi to withdraw from his originally scheduled fight with Michael Chiesa on the UFC on FOX 8 card. Jorge Masvidal stepped up though to replace Madadi and will be making his second UFC appearance against Chiesa.

Overview
Matt “The Immortal” Brown is coming off a TKO win over Jordan Mein last month at UFC on FOX 7 that earned him his first “Fight of the Night” bonus. Prior to that, the 32-year-old knocked out Mike “Quick” Swick in the second round at UFC on FOX 5 this past December. “The Immortal” has turned his career around after nearly being cut from the UFC following a three-fight losing streak in 2010. Since then, Brown has gone on to win six out of seven fights which includes his current 5-fight win streak.

Multiple sources close to UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem (36-12-0-1) have confirmed today that “The Reem” will be returning to the Octagon late summer to compete at the UFC 164 event taking place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on August 31st. An opponent has yet to been named.

Overview
Joe Lauzon should really change his nickname from “J-Lau” to “J-Bonus”, or maybe “J-Money” or “J-Bo-Bo”. Why? Well, in his last nine fights, nine “of the Night” bonuses were awarded over those fights with Lauzon winning all nine. That’s just sick. He’s gone 5-4 though over those nine fights, so although he’s raking in the bonus money, he’s still out of title shot reach. He’s coming off a unanimous decision loss as well to Jim Miller, although it was one of the best fights ever that ended in a bloody mess. Lauzon is the complete package. He’s got all the skills and always delivers. This will be the second appearance for Lauzon at a UFC event held in Boston. His first was at UFC 118 where he picked up a “Submission of the Night” win over Gabe Ruediger.

Overview
Rodrigo Damm first appeared for the UFC as a cast member of TUF Brazil 1. He made it to the semi-finals but was removed from the competition by Doctors due to kidney problems associated with weight gain/loss. He would return though to face his nemesis on the show, Anistavio “Gasparzinho” Medeiros, at UFC 147 and completely dominate Medeiros with a first round rear-naked choke submission win that not only gave Damm his first UFC victory, but also earned him “Submission of the Night”. Damm’s next fight would be at UFC 154 against Antonio Carvalho. He lost by split decision in what turned out to be a kick-boxing match for the most part, but the decision could have really gone either way. Damm has now lost 3 of his last 4 so he could really use a win on his home turf.
