A tale of two teams begins this week’s episode. Team U.K. was pumped after last week’s victory and looking to raise the roof, while Team Aussie was a bit down and very laid back.
After Colin “Freak Show” Fletcher marked up George Sotiropolis’ poster in the kitchen, Team U.K. had a crazy session in the Pool and then a game of volleyball. The losing team was forced to run the naked mile with hurdles, which meant streaking around the backyard naked and hurdling over the tennis court net while Colin Fletcher shot a soccer ball at them.
Team U.K. wasn’t finished yet though and decided it would be a good idea to have a food fight. They tossed fruit at each other and continued to make a racket while Team Aussie was trying to sleep. Team Aussie let em know the next morning, but in a very calm way, which seemed to have no affect.
The next day, Ross P took the team down to the local Pool for their daily workout. It was a low-impact but intense workout as the fighters were all feeling the burn. Unfortunately for viewers with weak stomachs, Ross P bought Colin Fletcher a special swimming outfit for the occasion. The pic pretty much tells it all.
Fight Announcement: Team U.K. had the fight pick this week and chose the following welterweight matchup:
Bola Omoyele bio and training: Bola Omoyele is very religious and asked God to open a door for him to show him what he should be doing with his life. He was in Atlanta, Georgia and saw Rashad Evans knock out Chuck Liddell and fell in love with MMA from there. If he hadn’t found MMA, he would probably be in jail. Further evidence that MMA is ruining the incarceration business. Ross P thinks controlled aggression is the key to victory. Bola will look for the right opportunity and go from there.
Manny Rodriguez bio and training: ‘Chelate’ is his nickname which was his old man’s name in video games. Has a trademarked ‘Chelate Choke’. He had a normal childhood but mother died when he was 17. Has a wife and kids and they struggle financially. He’s a compact striker with good grappling who’s tough. He’s more of a tactician and thinks it will be a ground fight.
News on Luke Newman: The Doctors have told him he cannot do anything physical for 30 days due to the trauma he suffered to his head during his fight on episode 3. He discussed with Ross P and wanted to go home because he can’t even help the other guys train. Ross P thought he would be quitting on the team and tried talking him into staying. Problem is, his mate Bola is a good friend and wanted him to stay around for moral support. Ross P, the team, and coaches put serious pressure on him to stay and he ultimately decided to stay.
Official Weigh-In:
Round 1: Bola came out with some wicked striking, landing leg kicks and punches with accuracy. One kick to Manny’s leg caused him to fall to the ground and Bola pounced on him. Bola was aggressive on top and landed some nice blows. With about a minute and a half left in a round completely dominated by Bola, Manny finally worked his way back up to his feet. He aggressively put pressure on Bola against the cage and then yanked up Bola’s left leg and threw him viciously onto the canvas. He immediately sunk in a north-south choke with about a minute left and it didn’t look that threatening. All of a sudden, Bola tapped. Shocking and quick sub. Great comeback by Manny who was getting worked the whole round.
Winner: Manuel Rodriguez via submission (north-south choke) – Round 1, 4:07
Next week: Dana White delivers some devastating news to Team Australia, Colin Fletcher antics, and the next lightweight fight.
